Taking into consideration that all the previous Presidencies contributed decisively to the consideration of the Council of Ministers of Culture of SE Europe as the leading regional initiative in the field of culture, Greece would like, in the framework of the
Greek Presidency of the Council of Ministers of Culture of SE Europe, to underline the significance of the following priorities:

  • Redefinition of cultural policies in the region in the framework of the implementation of UNESCO’s Convention for the Protection and
    Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions in the framework of the New Economy of Culture
  • Launching of the ‘Water Routes’ as a priority and a Pilot Programme of the Council
  • Creation of networks of cooperation in the field
    of the contemporary culture (book and translation)
  • Creation of a network of educational programmes in the SEE in the
    framework of the implementation of UNESCO’s Convention for the Protection of the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH)
  • Launching
    and function of the website of the Council of the Ministers of Culture of SEE
  • Redefinition of the Action Plan, decided in Tirana (2005), so that
    the cooperation-activity Projects (previous or new ones) proposed by the Ministries of Culture of the countries of the Council could be
    included
  • Further cooperation of the Council of the Ministers of Culture of South East Europe with European Commission, Council of Europe and
    UNESCO
